Statement of Faith and Practice
of Christian Light Fellowship Church
God the Father
We believe there is one eternal God, the Creator of heaven and earth and all that in them is. He is all knowing, all powerful, indescribable, and incomprehensible.
- Deuteronomy 6:4Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.
- Isaiah 46:9Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.
- Mark 12:29And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord.
- 1 Corinthians 8:4As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
- Hebrews 11:6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Jesus Christ the Son of God
We believe and confess that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. He is the only begotten son of the Father, born of a virgin, full of grace and truth. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He rose up from the grave by the power of God and ascended to the Father in heaven. All power is given unto Him and there is no other name given under heaven whereby man can be saved.
- 1 Timothy 3:16And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
- Colossians 2:19And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
- Ephesians 1:20Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.
- Acts 4:12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
The Holy Spirit
We believe and confess that there is a Holy Spirit who proceeded from the Father and the Son, given to all who believe and obey him, to comfort them and to guide them into all truth. By him we are all baptized into one body of Jesus Christ.
- John 1:12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
- Acts 5:32And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
- 2 Corinthians 3:17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
- 1 Corinthians 12:13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
- John 16:13-14Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
The Trinity
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are three separate but equal manifestations of God. These three are one and each has it's function.
- 1 John 5:7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Fallen Man
We believe and confess that man was created in the image of God, but through disobedience he fell to a condition of spiritual death and became subject to physical death. This death passed upon all men so that all are born sinners and are helpless concerning their salvation and are held captive by the devil.
- Genesis 1:27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
- Genesis 2:17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
- Romans 5:12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.
Heaven and Hell
We believe in a literal heaven and hell. People who die in the Lord will live forever with Christ. But those who reject God's provision of salvation will dwell in hell, a burning lake of fire, being tormented forever.
- Matthew 13:50And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
- Matthew 25:31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory.
- John 14:1-3Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
- Revelation 22And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Salvation
We believe and confess that God in his great love and mercy gave His son Jesus Christ to die for the sins of fallen man. He was buried and rose again on the third day. He was the perfect sacrifice that satisfied the heart of God. Now man must respond to this great redemption by repenting and believing on this work of Jesus Christ to be saved. To remain saved we must continue to walk by faith and the power of the Holy Spirit whereby we mortify the deeds of the body.
- Titus 3:5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.
- Romans 8:13For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
- 1 Corinthians 15:1-3Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.
- 1 Peter 1:5Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
The Bible
We believe Jesus was God's word made flesh. We believe the scriptures to be the inspired word of God that is given for man to live by. We believe the Old Testament is the foundation of the New Testament, however the New Testament is the primary guide for our life.
- 1 Timothy 6:3If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
- 2 Timothy 2:15And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
- Matthew 4:4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
- 2 Peter 1:20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
Satan
We believe and confess that Satan through pride and arrogance against God, as an angelic being, fell and lost his position in heaven. Now he, as a person, is the foe of mankind, and the prince and power of the air. His kingdom is the kingdom of darkness.
- 1 Peter 5:8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
- Ephesians 6:10-18Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
- Ezekial 28:13-17Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
- Isaiah 14:12How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Sanctification and the Christian Experience
We believe and confess that as we have been saved by grace through faith we are also sanctified or set apart for God by faith. The height of this experience is attained, maintained, and expressed in a life of devotion to God which is a continual pressing of the heart in love and fellowship with God. Prayer, study of the word, meditation, fasting, and singing from the heart are expressions of devotion to God. As the heart is lifted up to God he will continue his progressive work of sanctification in us that will result in a life that brings forth fruit of holiness and Godliness. We believe those who have been redeemed through the blood of Christ have the assurance that they are eternally secure as long as they abide in the vine, Jesus Christ. But if we abide not and do not continue in the faith we shall be cast forth as a branch and be burned.
- Hebrews 3:11-12So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest. Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
- John 15:1-6I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
- 1 Peter 1:2Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
- Hebrews 13:12Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
- 1 Thessalonians 4:3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication.
- John 4:22-24Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
- Romans 8:4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
- Galatians 5:22-23But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Discipleship
We believe and confess that the life of the Christian is a call to discipleship. This will cause us to deny ourselves and take up the cross in our everyday lives. This crucifying of the flesh is the operation of God through the Holy Spirit as we surrender our lives to him.
- Luke 14:26If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
- Luke 14:33So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
- Galatians 2:20I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
- Colossians 2:10-12And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
- Phillipians 2:12-13Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
The Body of Christ
We believe that body of Christ is made up of all those who are born again of the Spirit of God, partakers of the divine nature, that bring forth fruit of the Spirit, and have laid off the works of the flesh. We believe the church on this earth is a visible body of believers that have sincerely repented and are baptized according to their faith. The brotherhood consists of individual members who submit one to another according to the direction of the Head, Jesus Christ, for the purpose of maintaining purity and holiness in our daily experience. Each brother or sister works toward the edification of the church through the gifts that are given to them by the Spirit of God.
- 1 Corinthians 12Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
- Ephesians 4:16From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
- Romans 10:13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
- Acts 20:28Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
- Titus 1:5For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee.
The scriptures give us guidelines on how we ought to behave ourselves in the house of God.
- 1 Timothy 3:15For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
Brethren exhort and address one another privately concerning inconsistencies or errors that they observe in one another.
- Hebrews 3:13But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
- 1 Peter 5:4And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
Church discipline must be exercised and the bible gives us specific guidelines for different types of discipline. The motivation for such discipline is love, restoration, and purification of the church.
- Matthew 18:15-20Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
- 1 Corinthians 5:5To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
- Romans 16:17Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
- 2 Thessalonians 3:6Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
We are accountable to God for our possessions as stewards of God. There needs to be a conscious effort made by the brotherhood to discern the needs of others, especially those of the household of faith and to share with the needy.
- 1 Corinthians 16:1-3Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem.
- Romans 15:26For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.
- Matthew 6:19-21Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
- Matthew 5:42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
- Galatians 6:10As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Brotherly love keeps us from gossip, slander, sowing discord, or speaking evil of one another or of any person.
- 1 Corinthians 13Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
- Titus 1:10For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision.
- Proverbs 26:20-21Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth. As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.
Brethren desire to honor others, esteem others before themselves, and live in humble submission to each other according to the word of God. They freely forgive and rejoice in seeing others being blessed. The brotherhood is only maintained in the love of the Spirit and by his power, dying to the old man, and living in the new man. In this lies the strength and testimony of the brotherhood, "That ye have love for each other". This love makes us servants to each other, to inspire and encourage each other to a closer walk with God, and to provoke each other to love and good works.
- Romans 12:10Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.
- Colosians 3:12-13Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
- Phillipians 2:1-4If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
- Acts 4:32And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
- John 13:34-35A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
We stand in opposition to the great denominational system of so called churches who are unfaithful to the Word. Where men take authority upon themselves in things not founded upon the Word or where worldly liberalism and the flesh are manifested.
- Revelation 3:1And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
- Matthew 25:11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
- Luke 6:46And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
- Galatians 5:19-21Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Evangelism
We believe and confess that the great commission given by Christ to his disciples was a commission given to all believers to testify and tell the gospel to a lost and dying world as opportunities arise in daily life. We also believe there are brethren called of God and the church to go and preach the Gospel. It is the work of the church to call our brethren to serve in positions of leadership both in the local brotherhood and on the mission field.
- Acts 5:42And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
- Acts 8:4Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
- 2 Timothy 4:5But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
Baptism
We believe Jesus commanded his disciples to baptize all believers with water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. True baptism with water points to the divine truth of the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Christian baptism is the answer of a good conscience toward God because we have believed that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he paid the price of our redemption. We believe this command to he baptized upon repentance and the confession of our faith is our part of obedience for our salvation.
- Matthew 28:19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
- Matthew 3:15And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
- Acts 8:37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
- Acts 2:38-41Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
- Acts 8:12But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
- Acts 10:48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
The Christian's Walk
The bible teaches that there are two kingdoms, the kingdom of God and the kingdom of this world. Jesus prayed that those called of God would not necessarily be taken out of this world but that they would be kept from the evil of it and that they would be sanctified through the truth of God's word, thus we believe and confess that the children of God will follow clear scriptural principles in appearance, life, and conduct at all times. Gospel order is purity of heart, this behooves the child of God to cleanse himself from all filthiness of the flesh. Our bodies are the temple of God therefore the habits of the kingdom of this world that defile the temple of God should not he found among God's people.
- John 12:14-17And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt. These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him. The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.
- Matthew 15:20These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
- 1 Corinthians 6:19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
- 1 Thessalonians 4:7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
As children of the kingdom of God we should keep a clear distinction of the sexes both in clothing and personal appearance. We believe God created men and women with very distinct differences. God created man in the image and glory of God. We believe that man should do nothing to make himself appear effeminate neither should the woman do anything to make her appear masculine. These are both an abomination to God.
- 1 Corinthians 6:9Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind.
- Romans 9:20Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
- 1 Corinthians 11:4-5Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
- Deuteronomy 22:5The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
We believe the body of both male and female should be dressed in modesty to both cover and conceal. The Christian should be clothed in loose fitting clothing that does not bring attention to the person or the body but rather to God. The bible condemns costly array and other evidences of pride in display or adornment. Our homes and hearts should be free from this. The Bible also forbids following the ever changing fashions of this world.
- Romans 12:2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
- 1 Timothy 2:9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array.
- 1 Corinthians 1:12Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
- 1 Peter 3:3-4Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
- 1 Peter 1:14As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance.
Brethren are to be free from the shame of long hair or cutting the hair or the beard according to the latest fashions and styles of the world. The women should not cut their hair but rather cover their head with a headship covering or veiling. The men ought not to cover their head "forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God". The woman should cover her head because she is the glory of the man.
- 1 Corinthians 11:4-15Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
We believe that since the brotherhood is not of this world's kingdom, we need to be free from all fellowship of the unfruitful works of darkness and be free from being unequally yoked together with worldly men in business partnerships. We believe it is wrong to have close personal friendships with men that are liars, immoral, railers, drunkards, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, despisers of those that are good, etc. We seek our joy and satisfaction in things that build us and our family in Christian character and which lift up our Lord Jesus and glorify God. This separates us from the course of this world in it's entertainment, sports, pleasure pursuits, and from the carnality of so called holidays and associations with secret societies.
- 1 Corinthians 6Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren. Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
We are citizens of the kingdom of heaven and not of the kingdom of this world therefore we want to be free from participating in the affairs of the state and government. Patriotism and politics are of this world's kingdom therefore we will not participate in government offices and the elections thereof. Neither do we conscientiously have any part in serving in the military or any other armed services. We desire as much as possible to take care of our own people's needs and not be involved in government programs and secular insurances.

- 2 Corinthians 10:3-4For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.)
Marriage and the Home
We believe and confess that in the beginning, God created man. He saw that it was not good for the man to be alone, so he made a help for him and called her woman. He brought her to the man and so instituted marriage. It was sanctified in the beginning for the propagation of the human race, for the purity of the human family, and for a beautiful place to bring up children and teach them the fear of God. We also believe that Jesus taught in the new covenant that God forbids divorce and remarriage with divorced persons having former companions still living. All that are found in such a situation are in an adulterous relationship. According to God's word, only death can sever the marriage relationship.
Seeking a companion for a lifetime commitment to each other should only be done by mature Christians first seeking God through prayer and fasting. An honest searching of God that both of them are walking in the Spirit and the Word. Seeking a companion is a serious matter and should be done with full counsel of the parents if possible. The times spent together before marriage should be free from all actions that bring temptations and lustful thoughts. Husbands and fathers must assume final responsibility for the direction of worship in the home and for the decisions and discipline of the children.
Wives and mothers are to be submissive keepers at home and will demonstrate their lives with Godliness. Children are to be in subjection and obedience to their parents with all gravity.

- Romans 7:2-3For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

Ordinances of the Church
We believe these ordinances were instituted by divine authority for the purpose of expressing heavenly thoughts and meanings, given to draw our attention toward spiritual pictures of divine truth. We believe there is a blessing in being obedient in practicing them in the church.
- 1 Corinthians 11:2Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
- John 13:17If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
Communion: This breaking of bread and drinking of the cup was instituted by our Lord at the last supper and later delivered by the apostle Paul to the Church. We believed it is for all those in the brotherhood whose faith and life is anchored in the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ and all those who have made prior preparation.
- 1 Corinthians 11:23-28For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
Feet washing: This washing of the feet is to signify the servanthood that the brotherhood has to each other.
- John 13:4-17He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean. So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
Holy kiss: This is a kiss of love to all our brethren who want to obey the truth. This kiss is a greeting to signify our mutual love for Jesus Christ and for each other, brother with brother and sister and sister. We do not use this ordinance to judge our brethren in the Lord.
- Romans 16:16Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.
- 1 Corinthians 16:20All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss.
- 2 Corinthians 13:12Greet one another with an holy kiss.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:26Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
- 1 Peter 5:14Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
Headship covering: We believe the Bible teaches us that the woman's long hair is her glory and she should have her hair covered lest she dishonor her head. The Greek word used here is 'katakalupto' which means to veil or cover up. We believe this to be a special covering for a special purpose. We believe a man should not cover his head except for weather protection.

Anointing with oil: We believe that anointing with oil is a real blessing if practiced in faith. If any be sick let him call for the elders of the church.
- James 5:14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
Divination and Witchcraft
We believe that all children of God need to be free from all types of witchcraft, divining, sorcery, curious arts, magic, eastern mystic religions, and occultic practices and it's symbols. We believe that muscle testing, water witching, pow wowing, and many more superstitions and supernatural powers of darkness are wrong and need to be renounced through the blood of Christ to maintain personal purity of life and thought. All miracles, signs, and wonders, even though they work, that are not done in the name and power of Jesus must be repented of. We are commanded in word and deed to do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.
- Acts 8:9But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one.
- Acts 17:22Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
- Ephesians 5:25-27Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
- Galatians 5:19-21Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
- Colossians 3:17And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
The Return of our Lord Jesus Christ
We believe and confess that the same Lord Jesus that ascended into heaven will also come again. He will descend from heaven with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God. All the saints shall meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. This is the comfort and the lively hope of the children of God. We also believe that will be a time of horror and wailing for those who have rejected God and His provision for redemption of the sinner. They will call for the rocks and the mountains to hide them but it will be too late.
- 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
- Revelation 6:15-17And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
This confession of faith and practice is not to replace the work of the Holy Spirit in each individual person or to add or take away from the word of God. We trust no one will take this as some legalistic rules of life to go by but rather that this confession would stir in our hearts to search the scriptures to see if these things be so.
To be a part of the local body of believers, we ask for each one to have a clear testimony of having passed from death unto life in true repentance and responding by believing in Jesus for the remission of sins and peace with God through Jesus Christ. We also ask that you have the testimony of being baptized with water upon a true confession of faith. As you become a member or part of this local congregation we expect all to take an active part and responsibility in the body. You are called to admonish, exhort, encourage, and provoke one another to love and good works. We believe that it is our responsibility to admonish those that sin. If they refuse to repent they must be excommunicated from the brotherhood. Those that continue in their sin must be avoided according to the scriptures.
We believe that the child of God is directed by principles from the holy scriptures in his life here in this world. Although those principles never change we know that the applications to biblical principles do change in a changing world. Therefore it is necessary that the brotherhood is open to each other to discuss and have an understanding on how we should apply these principles in every day life. There are things in this world that we need to flee and we need to follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness. Fighting the good fight of faith and laying hold on eternal life is what we have been called to by our lord Jesus Christ.
- 1 Timothy 6:11-12But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost be with you all. Amen.
